Lithography‐Free Site‐Specific Synthesis of Size‐Tailored Platinum Dichalcogenides

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study proposes a streamlined strategy for synthesizing site‐specific, size‐tunable Pt dichalcogenides by pre‐defining Pt templates via focused ion beam (FIB). Utilizing only FIB and thermal treatment, this approach reduces processing steps and avoids issues like carbon contamination and edge defects from lithographic etching.

Resistive Heating for Inducing Localized Crystal Growth in Organic Thin Film Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Rubrene thin films are promising for organic optoelectronics due to high hole mobility. However, uncontrolled crystallization and grain boundaries from standard thermal processing hinder lateral device scalability. This work presents femtosecond‐laser micromachining and patterned resistive heating to induce localized, deterministic crystallization ...

On‐Chip Perovskite Coolers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Scaling of 3D‐integrated electronics exacerbates thermal bottlenecks, motivating solid‐state on‐chip cooling beyond convection and immersion. This perspective reviews optical refrigeration, electroluminescent cooling, and thermoelectrics for localized, vibration‐free heat removal.

High‐Transmission Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters using Hybrid Metal‐Dielectric Metasurfaces for CO2 Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This article presents a hybrid metal‐dielectric metasurface in transmission mode for mid‐infrared (MIR) spectroscopy. Composed of germanium on aluminium cylinders atop a calcium fluoride substrate, the metasurface achieves 80% transmission efficiency at λ = 2.6 µm with a narrow full‐width‐half‐maximum of 0.4 µm.

Efficient Non‐Fullerene Acceptor‐Based Organic Photodetectors Achieved by Reduced Deep Traps in Highly Intermixed Co‐Evaporated Bulk‐Heterojunction Blends

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Fullerene acceptor‐based organic photodetectors show sub‐optimal device performance due to deep trap states originating from undesirable adduct formation between donor and acceptor with unfavorable bulk‐heterojunction morphology. This work demonstrates subphthalocyanine‐based non‐fullerene acceptor (like Cl6‐SubPc) has great potential for trap‐free ...
