In vitro and in vivo evaluation of a new phytotherapic blend to treat acute externa otitis in dogs. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Pharmacol Ther, 2021
Abstract Canine otitis externa is frequently encountered in veterinary practice, caused by primary factors with bacteria and yeast overgrowth acting as secondary and perpetuating factors. The pharmacological support includes anti‐inflammatory, antimicrobials, and antimycotic drugs, but therapeutic failure and antimicrobial resistance are leading to ...

Floral Phytochemistry: Impact of Volatile Organic Compounds and Nectar Secondary Metabolites on Pollinator Behavior and Health

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 20, Issue 4, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Plants produce a plethora of phytochemicals including sugars, amino acids (AAs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and secondary metabolites (SMs) with different ecological functions. To attract pollinators and defenders and ensure reproductive success, plants mainly rely on VOCs, while to reward insects, plants synthesize nectar rich in ...

Comparative Medical Ethnobotany of the Senegalese Community Living in Turin (Northwestern Italy) and in Adeane (Southern Senegal)

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
A medico‐ethnobotanical survey was conducted among the Senegalese migrant communities of Turin (Piedmont, NW Italy) and their peers living in Adeane (Casamance, Southern Senegal), both among healers and laypeople. Through 27 in‐depth interviews, 71 medicinal plant taxa were recorded and identified in Adeane and 41 in Turin, for a total of 315 different

Distinct Intra‐ and Interspecific Foraging Patterns of Stingless Bee Species as a Conservation Tool

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2025.
In this study, we examined the foraging patterns of three rescued stingless bee species in the Bolivian Yungas using melissopalynology and plant–pollinator network analysis. We found distinct floral foraging patterns both within and among three stingless bee species in the Bolivian Yungas, suggesting niche partitioning at multiple levels.
