Establishment of native Eucalyptus pauciflora and exotic Eucalyptus nitens on former grazing land

New Forests, 2010
The success of tree plantings in agricultural landscapes within dry and variable rainfall regions is often below expectations. The aims of this study were to investigate techniques for establishing a local native species (Eucalyptus pauciflora) and an exotic species (E. nitens) in the Midlands of Tasmania, a tree-denuded region that has been grazed for

Variation in leaf oils of Eucalyptus nitens and E. denticulata

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1994
Abstract The chemical composition of the leaf oils of Eucalyptus nitens and E. denticulata trees grown in a provenance trial in Tasmania from seed collected from original Australian mainlan localities was examined. The composition of the adult leaf oils parallels the splitting of E. nitens into the two species, E. nitens and E. denticulata .

Selective fractionation and enzymatic hydrolysis of Eucalyptus nitens wood

Cellulose, 2018
Eucalyptus nitens, a fast growing species with remarkable resistance to plagues and ability to grow in frosting zones, was employed as a raw material for chemical fractionation following a selected biorefinery scheme. E. nitens wood samples were assayed for composition, and subjected to consecutive stages of hydrothermal processing (to solubilize the ...

Pollination ecology of Eucalyptus globulus subsp. globulus and Eucalyptus nitens (Myrtaceae)

2002
Tasmanian native blue gum Eucalyptus globulus subsp. globulus and its closely related southeastern Australian mainland congener E. nitens are the major trees grown in eucalypt plantations in temperate regions of the world. Plantation stock are mostly grown from seeds, that are increasingly being collected from seed orchards of trees selected for ...

Thinning and fertiliser effects on Eucalyptus nitens wood properties

2021
Eucalyptus nitens is a hardwood plantation species widely planted in cool-temperate regions of the world. Most of the plantations have been established to produce fibre, however, they also have potential to produce more valuable solid-wood products.

Response of Eucalyptus nitens seedlings to gibberellin biosynthesis inhibitors

Plant Growth Regulation, 1999
The plant growth regulators (PGRs) paclobutrazol, chlormequat chloride and prohexadione where applied to 11 month old seedling of Eucalyptus nitens to examine their relative effects on precocious flowering, growth and levels of GA20 and GA1 in the shoot apex.

Physiological responses ofEucalyptus nitens×nitensunder experimentally imposed water stress

Southern Forests: a Journal of Forest Science, 2010
This study reports on how a cold- and frost-tolerant clone of Eucalyptus nitens × nitens responds to drought stress. The aim was to identify  physiological traits that contribute to drought acclimation. Macropropagated saplings were grown in a climatecontrolled greenhouse in pots filled with coarse river sand supplied with a slow-release fertiliser ...
