Collapse and internal checking in the latewood of Eucalyptus regnans F.Muell
Wood Science and Technology, 1996Tangential shrinkage was measured on longitudinal-tangential slices of separate earlywood and latewood from one board of Eucalyptus regnans F.Muell. at various temperatures. Large amounts of collapse shrinkage were measured in the latewood slices, and lesser amounts in the earlywood slices.

Preferential Outcrossing in Eucalyptus regnans F. Muell
Australian Journal of Botany, 1987Seed production characteristics of Eucalyptus regnans following self (S), outcross (O), (S+O ) and open pollination were investigated as a contribution to understanding of breeding system control in this species. All five trees tested produced seed after self-pollination, although yield was reduced relative to outcrossing.

Studies of Litter in Eucalyptus regnans Forests
Australian Journal of Botany, 1975The litter of Eucalyptus regnans forests forms a mull humus, and leaf material is readily incorporated into the topsoil. The annual litter fall is high by world standards, averaging 7.66 tonneslha. The amount of bark and twig fall and the contribution of the understorey to the total litter are also com- paratively high.

Micropropagation of Juvenile Eucalyptus regnans (Mountain Ash)
Australian Journal of Botany, 1991Node-derived shoot cultures of Eucalyptus regnans were established from in vitro grown seedlings on Murashige and Skoog basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg L-1 (2 µm) zeatin and 0.05 mg L-1 (0.3 µm) napthaleneacetic acid. A double sterilisation method was essential to obtain clean material from seed.

EMERGENCE OF EUCALYPTUS REGNANS SEEDLINGS FROM BURIED SEED
Australian Forestry, 1965SUMMARY Seed of Eucalyptus regnans F. Muell. was sown at various depths in crumby and in highly compacted soils. The numbers of seedlings which emerged per cent of sound seeds sown in crumby soil were: on the surface—16%; at 1/4 inch depth—51%; at 1/2 inch—18%; at 1 inch—2%; and at 2 and 4 inches—0%.

Studies on problems of regeneration of Eucalyptus regnans in Tasmania
1966E. regnans is confined to Tasmania and Victoria. It is one of the three or four most important timber species in these two states. In 1958, E. regnans produced the fifth largest volume of sawn eucalypt timber in Australia (Hanson, 1961). E. regnans grows best under fairly cool conditions at 100 ft. to 2,000 ft. in Tasmania and at 600 ft.
