Impact of Parthenium weeds on earthworms (Eudrilus eugeniae) during vermicomposting

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2014
The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of Parthenium-mediated compost on Eudrilus eugeniae during the process of vermicomposting. Nine different concentrations of Parthenium hysterophorus and cow dung mixtures were used to assess toxicity. The earthworms' growth, fecundity and antioxidant enzyme levels were analysed every 15 days.

Enriched pressmud vermicompost production with green manure plants using Eudrilus eugeniae

Bioresource Technology, 2020
Vermicomposting of pressmud with cow dung and nitrogenous green manures (Gliricidia sepium and Leucaena leucocephala) was carried out using Eudrilus eugeniae (50 days). The reduction in pH, total organic carbon, C/N ratio, water-soluble organic carbon (Cws)/Norg and C/P ratios, and a pronounced increase in NPK contents and microbial population in ...

In Vivo Genotoxicity of Rice Husk Biochar on Eudrilus eugeniae in Soil

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2020
Biochar (char-product), generated by pyrolyzing organic materials, is produced for the intended use of land application to promote carbon sequestration, soil improvement and crop-yield. Despite the benefits biochar applications offers, scientific probing on impacts that may result from amendments with biochar is still fragmented.

Impact of different substrates on the mortality of Eudrilus eugeniae

2015
Abstract Million tonnes of municipal solid wastes are generated per year in India. For the municipal solid waste pollution management vermicomposting is the old but gold method. Vermicomposting is the natural method for degradation of solid waste by earthworm. The Eudrilus eugeniae were selected as the experimental animal for the present study.

Ecotoxicological Assessment of Seaweed-Based Crop Biostimulant on Earthworm Eudrilus eugeniae Kinb

Aqueous extracts from green seaweeds Chaetomorpha antennina and Ulva flexuosa (SWE) had considerable impacts on the growth and development of tomato plants; it was evident that SWE could be widely applied as agricultural biostimulants as one among a promising strategy of sustainable agriculture.
