Impact of Parthenium weeds on earthworms (Eudrilus eugeniae) during vermicomposting
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2014The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of Parthenium-mediated compost on Eudrilus eugeniae during the process of vermicomposting. Nine different concentrations of Parthenium hysterophorus and cow dung mixtures were used to assess toxicity. The earthworms' growth, fecundity and antioxidant enzyme levels were analysed every 15 days.

2015Abstract Million tonnes of municipal solid wastes are generated per year in India. For the municipal solid waste pollution management vermicomposting is the old but gold method. Vermicomposting is the natural method for degradation of solid waste by earthworm. The Eudrilus eugeniae were selected as the experimental animal for the present study.
