Revision of the orchid bee subgenus Euglossella (Hymenoptera, Apidae), Part I, The decorata species group

open access: yesZooKeys, 2011
Euglossella, one of the most distinctive subgenera of orchid bees of the genus Euglossa, is composed of two characteristic assemblages of species, one of them comprising bees bearing the strongly metallic integument trademark of the genus (viridis ...

Influence of forest cover and sex on wing size and shape of a spider‐hunting wasp in the Brazilian Atlantic forest

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 165-176, February 2026.
Forest cover significantly influences the wing shape of female Trypoxylon lactitarse. Females exhibit longer and narrower wings, linked to greater flight efficiency and dispersal. Sexual dimorphism indicates that females respond differently to ecological pressures, underscoring the role of forest cover in species persistence.

First records and description of metallic red females of Euglossa (Alloglossura) gorgonensis Cheesman, with notes on color variation within the species (Hymenoptera, Apidae)

open access: yesZooKeys, 2013
Metallic coloration is one of the signatures of orchid bees of the genus Euglossa, with some species showing variation associated with their geographic range.

Euglossa (Euglossa) viridissima Firese 1899

open access: yes
Euglossa (Euglossa) viridissima Firese, 1899 [Lectotype: NMW; ♂ Mexico] Euglossa viridissima was recently reported for the first time in BCP (Brindis et al., 2018). Within the BCP, this neotropical species has been exclusively found in the Sacrocauluscent Shrubland within the CTR. The BBPT collected eight females in Todos Santos in 2020 and 2021.

Urban rendezvous: Spatiotemporal overlap is more important than abundance and trait matching for urban plant–pollinator interactions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study shows that the generalized structure of urban plant–pollinator interactions is mirrored in the mechanisms that shape them, as interactions are governed primarily by less restrictive drivers such as abundance and spatiotemporal overlap rather than by trait matching.

The Nest Architecture of Euglossa (Euglossa) Hemichlora (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossini)

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Entomología, 2010
Information on the nesting biology of orchid bees is scarce due to the great difficulty of finding their nests. Comments and observations are presented about the architecture of the nests of Euglossa hemichlora obtained from trap nests as well as data on the nesting biology of this species of

Pollination ecology in the tropical Andes: moving towards a cross‐scale approach

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 2312-2345, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Plant–pollinator interactions structure ecological communities and represent a key component of ecosystem functioning. Pollination networks are expected to be more diverse and specialised in the tropics, but pollination ecology in these regions has been understudied in comparison to other areas.

Multifemale nests and social behavior in Euglossa melanotricha (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossini)

open access: yesJournal of Hymenoptera Research, 2012
The nesting biology and social behavior of the euglossine bee species Euglossa melanotricha was analyzed based on the monitoring of eight nests found in man-made cavities and transferred to observation boxes.
