Neural Dynamics of Motion Grouping: From Aperture Ambiguity to Object Speed and Direction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A neural network model of visual motion perception and speed discrimination is developed to simulate data concerning the conditions under which components of moving stimuli cohere or not into a global direction of motion, as in barberpole and plaid ...

DSGE Model Forecasting: Rational Expectations Versus Adaptive Learning

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper compares within‐sample and out‐of‐sample fit of a DSGE model with rational expectations to a model with adaptive learning. The Galí, Smets, and Wouters model is the chosen laboratory using quarterly real‐time euro area data vintages, covering 2001Q1–2019Q4.

Fundamental relations between the Dirichlet beta function, euler numbers, and Riemann zeta function for positive integers

open access: yes, 2012
A new definition for the Dirichlet beta function for positive integer arguments is discovered and presented for the first time. This redefinition of the Dirichlet beta function, based on the polygamma function for some special values, provides a general method for obtaining all special constants associated with Dirichlet beta function.

PARAS program: Phased array radio astronomy from space [PDF]

open access: yes
An orbiting radio telescope is proposed which, when operated in a Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBLI) scheme, would allow higher (than currently available) angular resolution and dynamic range in the maps, and the ability of observing rapidly ...

Household Consumption Intentions by Income Group During Monetary Policy Easing and Tightening

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate how the monetary policy interest rate affects Brazilian households' consumption intentions under two distinct regimes: monetary easing and tightening cycles. Using data from low‐ and high‐income households, we assess both the magnitude and the dynamics of this relationship.

Monetary and Macroprudential Policy and Welfare in an Estimated Four‐Agent New Keynesian Model

open access: yesJournal of Money, Credit and Banking, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract We examine the social and agent‐specific welfare effects of monetary and macroprudential policy in a four‐agent estimated macro‐economic model comprising “banked simple households,” “underbanked simple households,” “firm owners,” and “bank owners.” Optimal capital requirement and loan loss provisions ratios improve all agent‐specific and ...

Focal region fields of distorted reflectors [PDF]

open access: yes
The problem of the focal region fields scattered by an arbitrary surface reflector under uniform plane wave illumination is solved. The physical optics (PO) approximation is used to calculate the current induced on the reflector.

Long‐Time Solvability and Asymptotics for the 3D Rotating MHD Equations

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider the initial value problem for the 3D incompressible rotating MHD equations around a constant magnetic field. We prove the long‐time existence and uniqueness of solutions for small viscosity coefficient and high rotating speed. Moreover, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions in the limit of vanishing viscosity and fast
