Automatically Drawing Euler Diagrams with Circles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Euler diagrams are used for visualizing categorized data. These categories, together with information about when categories share some datum, can be turned into a succinct diagram description from which an Euler diagram can be generated.

A Three‐Parameter Continuum Timoshenko Beam Framework for Evaluating Higher‐Mode Effects in High‐Rise Buildings With Rotational and Translational Base Flexibility

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Higher‐mode effects can significantly amplify seismic demands in high‐rise buildings, causing unintended damage over the building height. Engineered mechanisms are introduced at the base of these structures to mitigate higher‐mode effects. Existing continuum formulations for base‐flexible buildings commonly idealize the superstructure as a ...

Water‐driven dispersible fiber electrode arrays for position‐dependent intracardiac electrophysiological recording

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Intracardiac electrophysiological recording plays an essential role in identifying abnormal cardiac electrical activity and guiding arrhythmia diagnosis and treatment planning. A key challenge for minimally invasive intracardiac electrodes is to combine reliable transvascular delivery with stable and compliant endocardial contact.

Changing Euler Diagram Properties by Edge Transformation of Euler Dual Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Euler diagrams form the basis of several visual modelling notations, including statecharts and constraint diagrams. Recently, various techniques for automated Euler diagram drawing have been proposed, contributing to the Euler diagram generation problem:

An Implicit Nodal–Staggered Finite Difference Scheme for Damped Shear Beam Models Without Rotational Inertia

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We develop and analyze a fully discrete finite difference approximation for a damped shear beam model with mixed boundary conditions and no rotational inertia. The absence of a second‐order time derivative in the rotational equation gives rise to an asymmetric temporal structure.

Fractional visco-elastic Timoshenko beam from elastic Euler-Bernoulli beam

open access: yes, 2014
The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is well established in such a way that engineers are very confident with the determination of stress field or deflections of the elastic beam based on this theory.

Generating Euler Diagrams from Existing Layouts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Euler diagrams have a wide variety of uses, from information visualization to logical reasoning. In all of their application areas, the ability to automatically layout Euler diagrams brings considerable benefits.

Deflection‐based assessment of residual prestress in simply‐supported bridges accounting for creep variability

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Several test methods have been proposed in the literature for measuring the level of residual prestress, most of them involving either semi‐ or fully destructive techniques for local measurements which could be highly sensitive to boundary conditions and execution details.
