Germination of Wild Poinsettia(Euphorbia heterophylla)
Weed Science, 1978Germination studies were conducted on seed of wild poinsettia(Euphorbia heterophyllaL.) collected in 1974 and 1975. Significant differences in germination existed between the seedlots. An alternating temperature regime of 25/35 C was optimum for germination, and no effect of light was noted at this temperature regime.

The phytotoxic effect of exogenous ethanol on Euphorbia heterophylla L.
Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2009This study investigated the effects of exogenously applied ethanol on Euphorbia heterophylla L., a troublesome weed in field and plantation crops. Ethanol at concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 1.5% caused a dose-dependent inhibition of germination and growth of E. heterophylla. Measurements of respiratory activity and alcohol dehydrogenase (E.C. 1.1.1.

Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) Germination and Emergence
Weed Science, 1995Wild poinsettia germination was at least 95% when exposed to solution pH of 2.5 to 10 or solution osmotic potential of up to −0.8 MPa. No germination was observed at pH 12 or osmotic potential of −1.5 MPa. Light was not required for germination. Seed germinated at temperatures ranging from 20 to 40 C with maximum germination of 97% at 35 C.
