open access: yesJournal of Wildlife Diseases, 2004
Thirty-seven carcasses of Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) collected and examined in Estonia during 1999-2001 had helminths. Parasites identified and their prevalence included Diphyllobothrium latum (5%), Taenia pisiformis (100%), Taenia laticollis (41%), Taenia hydatigena (3%), Taenia taeniaeformis (3%), Toxocara cati (68%), and Trichinella spp. (22%).

Bluetongue in Eurasian Lynx

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008
To the Editor: Bluetongue is an infectious disease of ruminants; it is caused by bluetongue virus (BTV), has 24 known serotypes, and is transmitted by several species of Culicoides biting midges. The disease mainly affects sheep and occurs when susceptible animals are introduced to areas where BTV circulates or when BTV is introduced to naive ruminant ...

Patterns of variation in reproductive parameters in Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Theriologica, 2011
Detailed knowledge of the variation in demographic rates is central for our ability to understand the evolution of life history strategies and population dynamics, and to plan for the conservation of endangered species. We studied variation in reproductive output of 61 radio-collared Eurasian lynx females in four Scandinavian study sites spanning a ...

Food habits of the Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx in southeast Poland [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vertebrate Biology, 2021
We studied diet and prey preferences of the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) inhabiting south-east Poland, based on kills found during GPS-GSM telemetry and opportunistic winter tracking. Among 64 lynx kills were roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) (91%), red deer (Cervus elaphus) (3%) and brown hare (Lepus europaeus) (6%).

A retrospective study of mortality in Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in UK zoos. [PDF]

open access: yesZoo Biol, 2019
IUCN currently classifies the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) as “Least Concern,” however, across its six to nine subspecies, some isolated populations are classified as “Endangered” or “Critically Endangered.” Despite this and the species’ relative ubiquity in European zoos, a retrospective mortality study of a captive population has not previously been ...
