Changes of Potential Suitable Areas for Lynx Under Climate Change in Mohe Area, Daxing'anling Mountains, China

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
Climate change drives shifts in suitable habitats for Eurasian lynx and its prey (hare, roe deer) in Mohe, Daxing'anling Mountains. Under RCP scenarios, moderate warming (RCP4.5) promotes substantial habitat expansion, while high‐emission conditions (RCP8.5) lead to strong expansion in the 2050s but slower gains and partial contraction by the 2070s ...

Head Trauma in the Eurasian Lynx (Lynx lynx dinniki)

open access: yesActa Scientiae Veterinariae
Background: The Eurasian Lynx lynx dinniki is in danger of extinction in Iran and Turkey. Many wild animals are injured in traffic accidents every year. Head trauma is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in small animals. To ensure the best outcome in such patients, a rapid diagnosis should be made and early treatment should be started.

Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Austrian Alps in period 2005–2009

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2012
To assess the status of Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Austrian Alps we evaluated signs of lynx presence collected from 2005 to 2009. The spatial distribution and the number of records collected (228 versus 225) remained stable compared to the 5-year period 2000–2004.

Classification Efficiency of Pre-Trained Deep CNN Models on Camera Trap Images

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2022
This paper presents the evaluation of 36 convolutional neural network (CNN) models, which were trained on the same dataset (ImageNet). The aim of this research was to evaluate the performance of pre-trained models on the binary classification of images ...

Fear of the unknown: local knowledge and perceptions of the Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx in western Macedonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The remnant population of Balkan lynx Lynx lynx martinoi is small, isolated and highly threatened. Since 2006 a conservation project has surveyed its status and promoted its recovery in Albania and Macedonia.

Global determinants of home range sizes in felids: Evidence of human disturbance impact

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
This study is the first to demonstrate the influence of anthropogenic factors and species richness in felids on home range size across the entire felid taxon. Felids are a taxon of major interest in conservation biology, and gaining a comprehensive view of their spatial ecology will help derive global conservation recommendations.

Density estimations of the Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) in the Swiss Alps [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mammalogy, 2013
Use of photographic capture–recapture analyses to estimate abundance of species with distinctive natural marks has become an important tool for monitoring rare or cryptic species, or both. Two different methods are available to estimate density: nonspatial capture–recapture models where the trap polygon is buffered with the half or full mean maximum ...

Non-invasive faecal sampling reveals spatial organization and improves measures of genetic diversity for the conservation assessment of territorial species: Caucasian lynx as a case species.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The Caucasian lynx, Lynx lynx dinniki, has one of the southernmost distributions in the Eurasian lynx range, covering Anatolian Turkey, the Caucasus and Iran. Little is known about the biology and the genetic status of this subspecies.

New insights into the distribution of cardio-pulmonary nematodes in road-killed wild felids from Romania

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2022
Background The population of wild felids is large and stable in Romania with many carnivore habitats being protected. Felids can be infected with a wide variety of cardio-pulmonary nematodes and can act as reservoirs of infection for domestic cats.
