Selectivity parameters of European hake gillnets for target and by-catch species with a perspective on small-scale fisheries management in the Sea of Marmara, Turkey

open access: yesRegional Studies in Marine Science, 2020
This study aims to describe the selectivity features of European hake gillnet for Merluccius merluccius (European hake, target species) and Solea solea (common sole, by-catch species) in the southern Sea of Marmara in terms of small-scale fisheries.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF EUROPEAN HAKE RESOURCE: BIOECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE

Journal of Biological Systems, 2014
This paper deals with the surplus production models of Verhulst-Schaefer and Gompertz-Fox that are applied to the European Hake fishery to develop static as well as dynamic frameworks to investigate the sustainability properties of the stock, optimal utilization of the resource and the management of the fishery.

Population Proteomics of the European Hake (Merluccius merluccius)

Journal of Proteome Research, 2010
We report the novel use of proteomics to investigate protein variation among populations of the European hake (Merluccius merluccius). The liver and brain extracts of 18 hake (N = 36) captured in the Mediterranean Sea, Cantabrian Sea, and Atlantic Ocean were examined by 2D/DIGE and mass spectrometry.

Genetic tags applied to the European hake, Merluccius merluccius (L.)

Animal Blood Groups and Biochemical Genetics, 1979
SummaryThree biochemical gene markers test the hypothesis that the European hake, Merluccius merluccius (L.), along the west European continental shelf are one race. The three polymorphic loci were serum transferrin (Tf), eye vitreous fluid butyric esterase (Es) and liver superoxide dismutase (Sod).

Composition of European hake, Merluccius merluccius

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1987
AbstractEleven batches of European hake, Merluccius merluccius, caught in waters off Scotland, were analysed. The following mean values were obtained: water 79.04%, total nitrogen 2.96%, ash 1.31%, lipid 2.24%, non‐protein nitrogen 0.304%. There was a small effect of season on these values.

Histology of the digestive tract in the European hake (Merluccius merluccius)

2022
The European hake (Merluccius merluccius) is a predatory demersal fish widely distributed in the Mediterranean. The adult European hake feeds mainly on fish and less frequently on crustaceans and mollusks. The aim of this study was to investigate and describe the histology of the digestive tract in the European hake. For this purpose, tissue samples of

Management of a fishery using taxes: The European hake fishery [PDF]

open access: possibleHacienda Pública Española/Revista de Economía Pública, 2006
The management by means of taxes of a fishery in which the fishing technology of the fleets has different effects on resource is analysed in this paper. This effect can be included in the natural growth of the marine resource function itself. The results show that the tax equilibrium level depends on shadow price, marginal productivity of the effort ...

Genetic structure and environmental heterogeneity in the European hake (Merluccius merluccius)

Molecular Ecology, 2005
AbstractThis study aimed at assessing the genetic structure and the state of the stocks of the European hake (Merluccius merluccius). To this end, 15 samples were taken from the whole range of the species and analysed using allozymes. Since 11 samples were taken from the poorly studied Mediterranean Sea, the results obtained provided a complete picture
