Contemporary Management of Human‐Caused Hybridization in Mammals: A Review

open access: yesMammal Review, Volume 56, Issue 4, December 2026.
By reviewing studies on human‐mediated (i.e., anthropogenic) hybridization, we identify key management gaps, including inconsistent identification of admixed individuals, limited population‐level assessments, insufficient social engagement, and unclear management objectives.

Antibodies to Aleutian Mink Disease Parvovirus in free-ranging small carnivores from south-western France: implication for the conservation of the European mink (Mustela lutreola)

open access: yes, 2004
Owing to the rapid decline of the European mink (Mustela lutreola) in France, a national conservation action plan has been initiated, in which scientific research to improve understanding of the causes of the decline is one of the primary objectives.

Molecular survey of genetic diversity in the endangered European mink Mustela lutreola

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Biologies, 2003
The European mink Mustela lutreola is regarded as one of the most endangered mammals in the world. We chose to characterize microsatellite loci in order to investigate the pattern of decline of this species.

Molecular and morphological characterization of Isthmiophora melis (Schrank, 1788) Luhe, 1909 (Digenea: Echinostomatidae) from American mink (Neovison vison) and European polecat (Mustela putorius) in Lithuania

open access: yesHelminthologia, 2017
The specimens collected from American mink (Neovison vison) and European polecat (Mustela putorius) in Lithuania were morphologically identified as Isthmiophora melis (Schrank, 1788) Lühe, 1909 and were molecularly characterized through sequencing of ...

Type A Trichothecene Diacetoxyscirpenol-Induced Emesis Corresponds to Secretion of Peptide YY and Serotonin in Mink

open access: yesToxins, 2020
The trichothecene mycotoxins contaminate cereal grains and have been related to alimentary toxicosis resulted in emetic response. This family of mycotoxins comprises type A to D groups of toxic sesquiterpene chemicals.

Chromosome Evolution in Amniote Vertebrates: A Comprehensive Atlas of Karyotypic Diversity From Ancestral States to Rapid Turnover

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 21, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The evolution of the amniote genome is characterized by a striking dichotomy between extreme karyotypic stasis and rapid structural innovation. To identify the mechanisms governing this variation, we provide a comprehensive synthesis of chromosome number and karyotype data across non‐avian reptiles, birds and mammals, integrating a century of ...

Multi-season occupancy analysis reveals large scale competitive exclusion of the critically endangered European mink by the invasive non-native American mink in Spain

open access: yes, 2014
Understanding changes over time in the distribution of interacting native and invasive species that may be symptomatic of competitive exclusion is critical to identify the need for and effectiveness of management interventions.
