Precision‐Engineered Plasmonic Nanostar Arrays for High‐Performance SERS Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Highly ordered and dose‐controlled arrays of gold nanodiscs are created using the dots‐on‐the‐fly EBL technique and subsequently converted into nanostar arrays. This technique unlocks the reproducible and robust fabrication of highly efficient SERS substrates. Abstract Surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy has emerged as a powerful tool

Patient-physician discordance in assessment of adherence to inhaled controller medication: a cross-sectional analysis of two cohorts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We aimed to compare patient's and physician's ratings of inhaled medication adherence and to identify predictors of patient-physician discordance.(SFRH/BPD/115169/2016) funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT); ERDF (European Regional ...

Hierarchical Twist: Chirality Across Scales in Cellulose Cholesterics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Hierarchical left‐ and right‐handed chiral nematic structures are observed in a solvent‐free thermotropic cellulose derivative. Free‐standing films show hierarchical twisted structures whose pitches respond differently to uniaxial strain: left‐handed pitches increase, ones decrease.

Sluicing in Wh Embedded Interrogatives and in Free Relatives in European Portuguese

open access: yesCatalan Journal of Linguistics
Sluicing has been classically taken as a construction that involves embedded wh-questions. However, in the last two decades some studies have shown that it may also occur in some kinds of relative clauses, namely in Free relatives.

Perceptual categorization of English vowels by native European Portuguese speakers

open access: yesRevista Linguística, 2018
This study reports the results of a perceptual assimilation task (PAT) used to assess the degree of perceived cross-language (dis)similarity between the vowel inventories of European Portuguese (L1) and American English (L2) and, thus, predict difficulty
