Potential New Records of Mites in Australia Based on Citizen Science (Acariformes, Parasitiformes)

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper reports on 10 species, 10 genera and 1 family of mites that are recorded in the iNaturalist database but otherwise not recorded from Australia. They include five species of plant parasites in the family Eriophyidae that may be economically important pests.

Chemicals on European red mite: Two different methods of evaluation of spray materials for spider mite control used in field tests during 1957 season

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1958
Variable conditions in the fruit growing areas of California make it difficult to project the results from evaluation tests in one area to another. As a consequence, field plots were established for the 1957 season in Bartlett pear orchards—in Sacramento,

Restoration tools and strategies for afforested Mediterranean coastal grasslands: is eucalypt removal alone enough to kickstart ecosystem recovery?

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 4, May 2026.
Abstract Introduction Afforestation with non‐native trees has profoundly altered coastal dune grasslands worldwide, creating persistent ecological legacies that constrain ecosystem recovery. Objectives We evaluated the cost‐effectiveness of two restoration approaches, distinguished by their respective demands for resource investment: Moderately ...

Distinct Host Gene Expression Patterns Induced by Covert Deformed Wing Virus Infections in Honeybees (Apis mellifera)

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 121, Issue 4, April 2026.
A transcriptome study was established in Ordu, Türkiye using genetically related A. mellifera anatoliaca colonies founded by super‐sister queens. Nurse bees were collected and high‐quality RNA was sequenced on an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform, and analyzed on the Sabancı University HPC cluster (1).

Implications of temperature-dependent development and survival of Hemipteroseius adleri Costa, 1968 on its distribution in central Europe

open access: yesScientific Reports
Otopheidomenidae include 30 species of parasites of insects. These mites occur in areas with warm and hot climates. The only exception is Hemipteroseius adleri, the distribution of which reaches the central European region, which is characterised by a ...

A Review of Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Disease: Comprehensive Theory and Evidence for Mechanisms of Action

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 2, April 2026.
Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) effects span central and peripheral organ systems through diverse mechanistic pathways. This comprehensive review provides a unified synthesis of these mechanisms across neurological, cardiovascular, immunological, metabolic, and gastrointestinal domains, filling a critical gap and serving as a foundational resource for ...
