A Note on Kairomones of the Great European Spruce Bark Beetle Dendoroctonus Micans
1990The Great European Spruce bark beetle, D. micans, is a major pest of spruce from eastern Siberia to the west of Europe. The first reported outbreak of D. micans in Britain was in 1982 but the earliest attacks probably occurred in 1973. It breeds under the bark of the spruce tree causing gradual death of the tree and its natural enemy is the bark beetle,

Abstract An infection of the great European spruce bark beetle Dendroctonus micans (from Turkey) by the parasitic green alga Helicosporidium is described. This is the first time that Helicosporidium has been found to infect a bark beetle (Scolytidae) and the first time that a naturally infected beetle has been reported for the Eurasian continent. The

The European spruce bark beetle, Dendroctonus micans Kugelann (Coleoptera, Scolytidae), is one of the most serious pests of oriental spruce (Picea orientalis L.) in Turkey. In this study, we investigated bacterial flora of D. micans collected from different populations of the forests of Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey from 2002 to 2004.

Can air pollution influence spruce bark beetle populations in the Central European muntains ?
Ekologia (Bratislava), 2003The possible role of industrial pollution as a factor predisposing spruce stands to attack by bark beetles, mainly Ips typographus L., is poorly understood. The abundance fluctuation of I. typographus populations were evaluated in above 60-years old Norway spruce stands occurring on 2 more and less polluted sites in Slovakia and Poland in the ...

The European spruce bark beetle Ips typographus in a national park: from pest to keystone species
Biodiversity and Conservation, 2008The influence of natural disturbance on biodiversity is poorly known in the intensively cultivated landscape of Europe. As an example of insect disturbance we studied effects of gaps generated by outbreaks of the spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus) on biodiversity in the area of the National Park “Bavarian Forest” and compared them with openings (e.g.

This thesis deals with the bark beetle population gradation which resulted in dieback of montane spruce forest in the central part of the Bohemian Forest, Czech Republic, during 1991 - 2000. A spatio-temporal model of changing land cover has been made using remote sensing and GIS methods. The statistical analyses have been made using generalized linear
