Using the SF-36 and Euroqol on an elderly population
Quality of Life Research, 1996An important methodological issue in measuring health-related quality of life is whether instruments such as SF-36 and EQ can be used on an elderly population. This paper aims to test the completion, reliability and validity of the SF-36 and Euroqol on an elderly female population, and to compare them with the OPCS Disability Survey.

The raison d’etre of the EuroQol Instrument is to provide a simple “abstracting” device, for use alongside other more detailed measures of health-related quality of life (henceforth HRQoL), to serve as a basis for comparing health care outcomes using a basic “common core” of QoL characteristics which most people are known to value highly.

Modeling Valuations for EuroQol Health States
Medical Care, 1997It has become increasingly common for preference-based measures of health-related quality of life to be used in the evaluation of different health-care interventions. For one such measure, The EuroQol, designed to be used for these purposes, it was necessary to derive a single index value for each of the 243 health states it generates.

Sample size calculations in studies using the EuroQol 5D
Quality of Life Research, 1999Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instruments are increasingly used as outcome variables in clinical trials, leading to a requirement for sample size calculations based on these variables. This paper aims to provide a guide to sample size calculations for use with the EuroQol-5D.

Duration of condition is unrelated to health-state valuation on the EuroQoL
Clinical Rehabilitation, 2003Objective: To determine whether health valuations, such as those used in economic evaluation, are affected by duration of a health condition. People with disabling health conditions tend to value health more highly than members of the general population, and one explanation for this is that over time their experience of living with a disabling illness

The descriptive system of the EuroQol Instrument
2006The EuroQol descriptive system has developed within the context of a generic, index measure of HRQoL. Dimensions have been chosen based on a conceptual process rather than by statistical means such as factor analysis, and have been identified through a review of other generic health status measures. Emphasis has been placed on identifying a common core

The EuroQol© quality of life project
1993For several years meetings have been held between a selected number of multi-disciplinary groups in various European countries. Cross-cultural, inter-disciplinary and cross-language issues have provided unique challenges and forced some compromises in the interests of producing an operational instrument.

Observations on one hundred students filling in the EuroQol questionnaire
2005The EuroQol Instrument measures HRQoL (EuroQol, 1990). The questionnaire was developed by the EuroQol Group, an international group of scientists working together in the field of measuring HRQoL. In developing the EuroQol, one of the ambitions was to make the questionnaire suitable for postal distribution.
