In 1022 minor ischemic stroke patients, baseline anxiety was associated with new severe pain at 1 year. In the MRI subgroup (N = 391), lesion network mapping implicated a distributed network including the insula, anterior cingulate cortex, and thalamus; Neurosynth decoding showed the highest similarity to pain and nociception terms.
