A new species of Isohypsibiid (Eutardigrada) from Sicily

Zootaxa, 2019
Dastych (2016) analysed the holotype of Isohypsibius tetradactyloides (Richters, 1907) and noticed that it possesses a very faint cuticular sculpture. For this and other characters, Dastych considered the species to be a synonym of Isohypsibius asper (Murray, 1906). The authors re-examined specimens attributed to Isohypsibius tetradactyloides by Pilato

Phylogenetic Relationships in the Macrobiotidae (Tardigrada: Eutardigrada: Parachela)

Zoologischer Anzeiger - A Journal of Comparative Zoology, 2001
Abstract Characters of the claws, buccal-pharyngeal apparatus and ultrastructure of the cuticle have been examined to identify phyletic relationships within the Macrobiotidae. Several apomorphies have been identified. The resulting cladogram shows two main phyletic lines within the family, corresponding to the subfamilies Macrobiotinae and Murrayinae.

Tenuibiotus, a new genus of Macrobiotidae (Eutardigrada)

Zootaxa, 2011
The group of Macrobiotus species having claws of the tenuis-type is discussed and a new genus, named Tenuibiotus, is instituted. The tenuis-type claws are characterised by the fusion of the primary and secondary branches over a long distance so that the common tract is longer than that found in other members of the Macrobiotidae.

Cuticle structure and systematics of the Macrobiotidae (Tardigrada, Eutardigrada)

Acta Zoologica, 2000
The cuticle of tardigrades is characterized by three main layers: epicuticle, intracuticle and procuticle. Pillars are present in the epicuticle of almost all heterotardigrades, but these structures are also known in a few species of eutardigrades.
