Directionally solidified eutectic and off-eutectic mullite–zirconia fibres
Abstract Eutectic and off-eutectic mullite–zirconia fibres were grown by LFZ (laser floating zone) directional solidification. The microstructure of the mullite–zirconia eutectic fibres varies from planar coupled eutectic (1 mm/h pulling rate) through mullite columnar growth with coarse zirconia inclusions (10 mm/h pulling rate) to faceted mullite ...

Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) are pharmaceutically accepted systems not only because they typically offer a serious enhancement of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) solubility, but also due to their non-toxicity.

Eutectic and off-eutectic growth patterns
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1994Abstract Two-dimensional binary eutectic and off-eutectic growth morphologies were simulated using a modified diffusion-limited aggregation model. Anisotropic kinetics of interfacial attachment, diffusion and detachment were formulated with probabilities dependent on the growth temperature, far-field composition, particle interaction energies, and ...

Behaviors of Eutectic Crystals below Their Eutectic Points
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1968The present investigation is concerned with an anomalous eutectic reaction which takes place at a temperature lower than their ordinary eutectic points, provided that the eutectic system contains at least an intermetallic compound as one of the components. These experiments were carried out for the system of iron and silicon.

Stability of Lamellar Eutectics
Physics of Condensed Matter, 1974A new theory for the growth of lamellar eutectics is presented. The present analysis is different from previous theories in that the growth problem is formulated in terms of an interface equation. This equation is analysed for steady state solutions and their stability against different perturbations.

Abstract The electrical resistivity of pure Al, pure Sn, pure Mg and the compounds with the general composition [ 96.5- x] at. % Al-[x] at. % Sn-3.5 at. % Mg (x = 2.5 (supra-eutectic), 8.5 (eutectic), 14.5 (sub-eutectic)) were measured by four-point probe (DC 4PPT) method in the temperature range of 323–823 K.

Many binary eutectic alloys can be forced to solidify with an ingot structure that contains a very highly anisotropic arrangement of the phase particles. Fundamental concepts of solidification are reviewed to provide a basis for understanding the production of ingots of controlled eutectics.

EUTECTIC SOLIDIFICATION IN METALS
Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1951A study has been made of the process of solidification of the alloys of tin and lead the eutectic structure of which is typically lamellar. A technique was developed in which the rate and direction of solidification were controlled. It was demonstrated that freezing takes place by the simultaneous edgewise growth of the lamellae, the thickness of ...
