Visual Acuity of Two Tunas, Katsuwonus pelamis and Euthynnus affinis

Copeia, 1968
Two tunas, Katsuwonus pelamis and Euthynnus affinis, were trained to discriminate between vertically and horizontally striped images. The striped images were projected on a plate of opal glass which rested against a window of the experimental tank. Visual acuity depended upon the width of the stripes and the distance between the fish and the window at ...

Human health risk assessment of heavy metals via consumption of commercial marine fish (Thunnus albacares, Euthynnus affinis, and Katsuwonus pelamis) in Oman Sea

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2020
This study was performed to determine the concentrations of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) in the gill, liver, muscle, and tail fin tissues of Euthynnus affinis, Katsuwonus pelamis, and Thunnus albacares from Oman Sea. All samples were analyzed using a flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer and the results were expressed as μg g-1 dry weight.

Specificity of fatty acid composition of highly migratory fish. A comparison of docosahexaenoic acid content in total lipids extracted in various organs of bonito (Euthynnus pelamis)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology - B Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1995
Abstract Fatty acid composition of lipids in various organs of the bonito (Euthynnus pelamis), a typical species within the tuna species, caught in the sea off the Pacific coast of Japan, was determined by gas-liquid chromatography. The major fatty acids of all organs examined were palmitic acid (16:0), palmitoleic acid (16:1), oleic acid (18:1 ...

The Fatty Acid Composition Characteristic of a Highly Migratory Fish, with Seasonal Variation of Docosahexaenoic Acid Content in Lipid of Bonito (Euthynnus pelamis)

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1995
Present address: Hagoromo Foods Corporation. 151, Shimazaki-cho, Shimizu-shi, Shizuoka 424-85. Japan. The seasonal variation offatty acid composition in lipids of various organs and stomach contents of bonito (Euthynnus pelamis) was investigated. Although docosahexaenoic acid in the lipids of the stomach contents originating from their prey organisms ...

Thermal dependence of contractile properties of single skinned muscle fibres from Antarctic and various warm water marine fishes including Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) and Kawakawa (Euthynnus affinis)

Journal of Comparative Physiology B, 1984
Single fast fibres and small bundles of slow fibres were isolated from the trunk muscles of an Antarctic (Notothenia neglecta) and various warm water marine fishes (Blue Crevally,Carangus melampygus; Grey Mullet,Mugil cephalus; Dolphin Fish,Coryphaena hippurus; Skipjack-tuna,Katsuwonus pelamis and Kawakawa,Euthynuus affinis).
