Aerodynamic energy consumption analysis of divided evacuated tube transportation system

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
Evacuated Tube Transportation (ETT) reduces aerodynamic drag and energy consumption by lowering gas pressure around high-speed trains (HSTs). To optimise this effect, integrating the ETT system into high-speed cruise segments is a practical approach ...

Inertial Forces from Earthquakes on a Hyperloop Pod [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
High‐speed transit (1300  km/hr) using pods traveling in evacuated tubes has been proposed. This Short Note addresses how earthquake ground shaking is changed when it is experienced by a high‐speed pod that is confined to a track.

Light‑Driven Propulsion of Graphene Aerogels in Microgravity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultralight graphene aerogels convert laser light into thrust. Parabolic‐flight experiments directly compare their motion in microgravity and at 1 g, revealing order‐of‐magnitude enhancements in distance, velocity, and transient thrust when weight and friction are removed (∼50 times enhancement).

Selective Electrolysis of Water Under Artificial Seawater Conditions Using Transition Metal Borate Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The borate‐based cobalt‐iron catalyst promotes selective oxidation of water rather than chlorine evolution reaction during electrolysis of seawater. When integrated into a zero‐gap electrolyzer prototype, this catalyst supports robust splitting of artificial seawater into oxygen and hydrogen on an extended timescale.

Investigation of Moisture‐Induced Degradation Mechanisms and a Reviving Strategy for Sulfide‐Based Solid Electrolytes in All‐Solid‐State Composite Cathode

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Moisture exposure induces the formation of reductive solid phases on argyrodite Li6PS5Cl, which destabilize Ni‐rich cathodes by extracting lattice oxygen and inducing surface reconstruction. A brief oxygen‐assisted annealing treatment quenches these reductive phases, restores interfacial stability, and enables effective regeneration and reuse of ...

Enhancing Surgical Efficiency and Cost‐Effectiveness With TaTME‐Combined Robot‐Assisted Surgery for Lower Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Robot‐assisted rectal surgery (RAS) offers improved dexterity and visualization; however, the high cost of equipment and consumables remains a major challenge for hospital management. At our institution, we have adopted a combined approach using transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for lower rectal cancers, aiming to shorten ...

Method of evaporation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Liquids, such as juices, milk, molten metal and the like are concentrated by forming uniformly-sized, small droplets in a precision droplet forming assembly and deploying the droplets in free fall downwardly as a central column within an evacuated column

Soft Artificial Ciliary Brush with Integrated Haptic Feedback for Efficient Airway Mucus Cleaning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A fundamental mucus cleaning mechanism is reported, which utilizes both artificial cilia mechanical sweeping and suction‐based mucus cleaning. A novel haptic feedback interface for the artificial cilia provides touch feedback on tissue contact, enhancing operator control and safety.
