Thermal Performance Analysis of a Novel U-Tube Evacuated Tube Solar Collector

ASME 2020 14th International Conference on Energy Sustainability, 2020
Abstract Solar water heating (SWH) systems are the most common application of renewable energy technology that converts solar radiation into useful energy for domestic/industrial activities. The novelty of this study is the design of a new SWH that combines the heat transfer and storage both in a single unit.

Degradation of all-glass evacuated solar collector tubes

Solar Energy Materials, 1985
Accelerated ageing studies have been carried out for four types of all-glass evacuated collector tubes, two of which are commercially available. Commercially available collector tubes incorporating a sputtered stainless steel-carbon on copper selective surface have good surface and vacuum stability.

Performance Analysis of Solar Evacuated Tube Collector

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The high temperature operation of Evacuated Tube Collectors (ETC) and their very low radiant heat losses make them ideal for solar water heating, solar space heating, desiccant air conditioning, thermal driven cooling and industrial process heating applications. The work temperature of common ETC can reach 100~ 250°C. The vacuum tube envelope minimizes

Selective absorbing surface for evacuated solar collector tubes

Renewable Energy, 1999
Abstract The absorptance of AlN-Al(absorbing coating)/Al solar spectrum(0.34 ≈ 2.5 μ m) selective absorbing surface, containing 8-layer AlN-Al composite materials and with distinctive or non-boundaries between the layers, deposited by sputtering technology and heat-treated at 400 °C (60min) is about 0.95 and its thermal emittance is close to 0.07 ≈ 0.

Flat-Plate and Evacuated Tube Collectors

2013
Solar-energy collectors are devices employed to gain useful heat energy from the incident solar radiation. They can be of the concentrating or the flat-plate type. A simple flat-plate solar energy collector consists basically of an absorbing surface which absorbs the insolation and transmit it in form of heat to a working fluid commonly air or water. A

Solar thermal networks operating with evacuated-tube collectors

Energy, 2018
Abstract This paper addresses the design and specification of solar collector networks for the capture of solar radiation and its transformation into thermal energy for use in low energy intensity processes. All glass evacuated tube solar collectors are the type of technology considered in this work.

Thermal modeling of evacuated tube solar air collectors

Solar Energy, 2015
Abstract This paper presents a one dimensional thermal model of a solar evacuated tube open at both ends under transient conditions. Variations of fluid mass flow rate, ambient temperature, solar radiation, and wind speed are accounted for. The semi-analytical model relies on the energy conservation equation for small control volumes along the ...

Evacuated blood-collection tubes--the backflow hazard.

Canadian Medical Association journal, 1975
Five cases of nosocomial infection caused by Serratia marcescens were traced to backflow of blood from nonsterile evacuated blood-collection tubes. The mechanism of backflow was investigated theoretically and the conditions were determined under which backflow can occur. The theory was confirmed by experiments conducted on a simulated venous system and
