Evaluation of pelleted dried grass as a supplement to grass silage for fattening steers

Animal Science, 1976
SummaryTwo experiments were carried out using 130 Friesian-type castrated males (steers) to compare pelleted dried grass with rolled barley as supplements to high quality grass silage for fattening steers. There were six treatments in each experiment and, in addition, Experiment 1 had a pre-experimental slaughter group.

Evaluation of composts for growth of grass sod

Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 2001
Composts prepared from sewage biosolids-wood chips, mixed municipal solid wastes, autumn leaves, mixed yard wastes, or agricultural wastes were assessed for their effects on growth and composition of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L. ‘Pennfine’). Two biosolids based composts, one mature and one immature, were evaluated.

Radiographic evaluation of internal defects of seeds of forage grasses

Russian Agricultural Sciences, 2008
The possibility of using the radiographic method for analyzing the viability of seeds of forage grasses and making a differentiated evaluation of the effect of various types of latent defects of the internal structure of seeds on their sowing qualities is shown.

An Evaluation of Nitrogen Fertilization in Legume‐Grass and All‐Grass Pasture1

Agronomy Journal, 1965
SynopsisA simple legume‐grass mixture was more productive than a grass + N mixture in 1958 but less productive in 1959, following legume depletion due to winter‐killing. A low rate of nitrogen applied to depleted legume‐grass swards was economically superior to high rates on either legume‐depleted or all‐grass pastures, but especially the latter ...

Drought resistance evaluation of perennial grasses

2006
In semi-arid Mediterranean regions, perennial forage species could play a primary role in rain-fed agricultural systems by complementing the commonly used annual species in order to widen the forage utilization by animals. To identify cultivars characterized by high drought resistance and water use efficiency a greenhouse study was carried out on 3 ...

Evaluation of the Antifungal Activity of Lemon Grass Oil

International Journal of Crude Drug Research, 1989
AbstractThe antifungal activity of Lemon grass Oil (LGO) has been evaluated using fungistatic (MIC and agar diffusion tests) and fungicidal (spore germination) studies. Appreciable activity was observed against various isolates of Candida and clinical isolates of Aspergillus fumigatus, Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

Evaluation of three techniques for measuring grass leaf area.

African Journal of Range and Forage Science, 1991
Three leaf area measuring techniques were compared. Although statistical considerations received priority, practical issues such as economy of time, labour and finance, were also evaluated. The electronic light interception planimeter and the squared grid method (SGM) are already in common use, while computer-aided image analysis (CAIA) is relatively ...
