Evaporating droplets

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2006
The evaporation of droplets on a substrate that is wetting to the liquid is studied. The radius $R(t)$ of the droplet is followed in time until it reaches zero. If the evaporation is purely diffusive, $R \propto \sqrt{t_0\,{-}\,t}$ is expected, where $t_0$ is the time at which the droplet vanishes; this is found for organic liquids, but water has a ...

Evaporating Liquidity [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
The returns of short-term reversal strategies in equity markets can be interpreted as a proxy for the returns from liquidity provision. Using this approach, this article shows that the return from liquidity provision is highly predictable with the VIX index. Expected returns and conditional Sharpe ratios from liquidity provision spike during periods of

Evaporation of aluminium by graphite evaporator

Vacuum, 1959
The desirable properties of graphite for evaporation of aluminium were determined as follows: 1 Apparent density > 1.80 g/cm3; 2 True density > 2.15 g/cm3; 3 Ashes < 0.05%. The destruction of graphite usually occurs at 1200°–1300°C but it can be prevented by heating it at above 1500°C.
