Abstract In this chapter we will consider various forms of evaporation, covering both bipartitioned and dispersed systems. We may easily anticipate some of the non-dimensional groups which affect evaporation rates: for example, the ratio of sensible to latent heat, the Jakob number.

Evaporation of aluminium by graphite evaporator
Vacuum, 1959The desirable properties of graphite for evaporation of aluminium were determined as follows: 1 Apparent density > 1.80 g/cm3; 2 True density > 2.15 g/cm3; 3 Ashes < 0.05%. The destruction of graphite usually occurs at 1200°–1300°C but it can be prevented by heating it at above 1500°C.
