Mitochondrial Transplantation via Magnetically Responsive Artificial Cells Promotes Intracerebral Hemorrhage Recovery by Supporting Microglia Immunological Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A type of magnetically responsive artificial cells (ACs) has been developed, demonstrating the loading of mitochondria and self‐enclosure processes to ensure the protection of mitochondrial transport via the bloodstream. The treatment with ACs effectively transplanted mitochondria around the lesion, thereby improving neurological recovery by supporting

Metabolic‐Immune Suppression Mediated by the SIRT1‐CX3CL1 Axis Induces Functional Enhancement of Regulatory T Cells in Colorectal Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study discovers that SIRT1, a hub gene involved in glucolipid metabolic conversion in colorectal carcinoma (CRC), stimulates CX3CL1 secretion in CRC cells by activating FOXO1. The CX3CL1‐CX3CR1 signaling promotes the differentiation of TCF7+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) into an enhanced immunosuppressive TNFRSF9+ Treg phenotype.

CCL20/CXCL5 Drives Crosstalk Between Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer Stem Cells and Tumor‐Associated Macrophages to Promote Tumor Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the crosstalk between tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) and anaplastic thyroid cancer stem cells (ATCSCs). The findings reveal that CCL20 from THP‐1‐M2 activates the IRAK‐1/NF‐κB1/2 pathway in ATCSCs, thereby enhancing CXCL5 secretion.

Targeting Decidual CD16+ Immune Cells with Exosome‐Based Glucocorticoid Nanoparticles for Miscarriage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Exosome‐based nanoparticles (GC‐Exo‐CD16Ab) are designed to deliver glucocorticoids (GC) specifically to decidual CD16+ NK cells and macrophages. This targeted delivery effectively suppresses the cytotoxicity of decidual NK cells, inhibits M1 macrophage polarization, and modulates the decidual microenvironment.

Carrying the Moral Burden of Safe Fieldwork

open access: yesThe Bulletin of the Ecological Society of America, Volume 104, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Fieldwork in ecology and the environmental sciences often leads to negative physical and emotional outcomes for workers. I argue that this is largely due to an abdication of responsibility on the part of their supervisors, and that supervisors are charged with carrying three interlinked moral burdens: first, the duty of promoting safety ...
