Even-Order Subharmonic Oscillations

Journal of Applied Physics, 1956
The generation of an even-order subharmonic, or harmonic, oscillation in a driven nonlinear resonant system described by just a cubic nonlinear term requires the simultaneous appearance of a zero-frequency component. This component effectively introduces a squared nonlinear term.

An Ordering on the Even Discrete Torus

SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 1998
The authors consider the graph \(T=T(k_1,\dots,k_n)\) represented as the Cartesian product of cycles of even lengths \(k_1,\dots,k_n\). For a set \(A\) of vertices of \(T\) let \(N(A)\) denote the vertex boundary of \(A\), i.e. the set \(\{x : \text{dist}(x,A)\leq 1\}\). The problem is to a find a set \(A\) of a given size that has minimum boundary. It

An Even Order Search Problem

1987
How might simple real zeros of real valued continuous k-th derivatives g(k) be efficiently estimated, by using only values of g and points in dom(g)? A standard approach to these questions entails successively ehoosing a (prescribed) total of n>k points to be the abscissae for sequences of k-th divided differences, whose signs are then used to locate ...

Williamson matrices of even order

1974
Recent advances in the construction of Hadamard matrices have depended on the existence of Baumert-Hall arrays and Williamson-type matrices. These latter are four (1,-1) matrices A,B,C,D, of order m, which pairwise satisfy (i) MNT = NMT, M,N e {A,B,C,D}, and (ii) AAT+BBT+CCT+DDT = 4mIm, where I is the identity matrix.

Even-Toed Ungulates Order Artiodactyla

2009
Abstract The Artiodactyla includes peccaries, deer, pigs, hippopotamuses, camels, giraffes, ante- lope, and cattle and is the most diverse order of hoofed mammals. Even-toed ungulates have 2 weight-bearing toes on each foot. They probably are only distantly related to the odd-toed ungulates; they are thought to be more closely related to

Symplectic translation planes of even order

2006
Symplectic translation planes of even order are investigated. Such planes are characterised by the existence of completely regular line--ovals, and these line--ovals give rise to symmetric designs isomorphic to certain designs investigated by Kantor. The use of these designs allows us to describe the collineation group fixing a completely regular line--
