High frequency distributed data stream event correlation to improve neonatal clinical management

open access: yes, 2007
Approximately eighteen percent (18%) of babies born in New South Wales (NSW), Australia require special care or neonatal intensive care admission. Premature babies can be up to 17 weeks early and may only weigh 450gms; they can spend 3 or 4 months in ...

Load Shedding for Complex Event Processing: Input-based and State-based Techniques

open access: yes, 2020
Complex event processing (CEP) systems that evaluate queries over streams of events may face unpredictable input rates and query selectivities. During short peak times, exhaustive processing is then no longer reasonable, or even infeasible, and systems ...

BiCEP Benchmarking Complex Event Processing Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
. BiCEP is a new project being started at the University of Coimbra to benchmark Complex Event Processing systems (CEP). Although BiCEP is still in the early stages, we list here some of the design considerations that will drive our future work and some ...

Improving Event-Based Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring Using Graph Signal Processing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Large-scale smart energy metering deployment worldwide and integration of smart meters within the smart grid will enable two-way communication between the consumer and energy network, thus ensuring improved response to demand.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Challenges with image event processing: Poster

open access: yes, 2017
There has been substantial research in the area of event processing where systems are focused on event processing of structured data. However, in the context of smart cities, signi cant number of realtime applications for event-driven systems consist of ...

Denial of Information Attacks in Event Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Automated Denial of Information Attacks. It is a common assumption in event processing that the events are “clean”, i.e., they come from well-behaved and trustworthy sources.

Distributed Event-Based Process Execution - Assessing Feasibility and Flexibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Processes modeling and execution (with a process engine) are getting more and more incorporated in todays business environments. This movement puts a lot of stress on classical process engines which have to coordinate many process instances simultaneously.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Hardware, Algorithms, and Applications of the Neuromorphic Vision Sensor: A Review

open access: yesSensors
Event-based (neuromorphic) cameras depart from frame-based sensing by reporting asynchronous per-pixel brightness changes. This produces sparse, low-latency data streams with extreme temporal resolution but demands new processing paradigms.
