Biomolecular events involved in anticryptococcal resistance in the brain

Infection and Immunity, 1995
We have recently shown that intracerebral (i.c.) administration of heat-killed Cryptococcus neoformans (HCN) enhances mouse resistance to a subsequent local challenge with lethal doses of viable yeast cells. Here we show that i.c. administration of HCN is also effective in significantly delaying brain colonization of mice intravenously infected with ...

Decisions Involving Sequential Events: Replications and Extensions

Journal of Accounting Research, 1985
Much evidence appears in the accounting and behavioral literatures indicating that subjects in experiments often do not obey the normative rule of choosing among alternatives in order to maximize expected utility (Allais [1953], Ronen [1971], Hirsch [1978], Snowball and Brown [1979], and Kahneman and Tversky [1979]).

The Involvement of Paf in Thrombotic Events

1991
PAF is a potent stimulus of platelet and neutrophil activation both in vivo and in vitro which has an aggregatory profile distinct from other well known platelet agonists. In laboratory animals, PAF has been shown to induce a dose-related accumulation and subsequent retention of 111Indium-labelled platelets into the pulmonary vascular bed.

Involving Cities Authorities in Event Planning

2013
The aim of the study is to highlight how event planning may play a considerable role in strategies of positioning and systemic increase in the value of territories. This can be achieved through a formal partnership between public institutions and private subjects based on shared goals, a clear hierarchical coordination of the actors-participants, and ...

[Molecular events involved in the metastatic process].

Progres en urologie : journal de l'Association francaise d'urologie et de la Societe francaise d'urologie, 2009
The occurrence of metastasis is probably the least characterised process in tumour progression. It is difficult to study, due to the limited access to metastatic tissues, to the multiple steps involved and the long time required to observe metastasis growth, even in model systems.
