W‐Based Thin Film Metallic Glasses Doped with Ni, Zr, and B for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work is the first to deal with a comprehensive comparison of two metallic glass systems, W–Zr–B and W–Ni–B, in terms of their suitability for specific industrial applications. Their mechanical and tribological properties are compared and discussed in combination with structural homogeneity on different types of technically relevant substrates and ...

Searching for Supersymmetric Dark Matter - The Directional Rate and the Modulation Effect Due to Caustic Rings

open access: yes, 2000
The detection of the theoretically expected dark matter is central to particle physics and cosmology. Current fashionable supersymmetric models provide a natural dark matter candidate which is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP).

CALPHAD‐Guided Prediction and Interpretation of Phase Formation in Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al Refractory High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study designs Ta–Mo–Cr–Ti–Al refractory high‐entropy alloys with a disordered body‐centered‐cubic A2 crystal structure aiming for improved ductility, lower density, and oxidation resistance. Four alloy compositions are identified by thermodynamic calculations.

Multiscale, Multiphysics Modeling and Simulation of Single-Event Effects in Digital Electronics: From Particles to Systems

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science
This review paper aims to provide a survey of modeling and simulation of single-event effects (SEEs) in digital electronics at device, circuit and system levels. It primarily focuses on the specific multi-scale, multi-physics, multi-domain nature of SEEs and on the main underlying physical mechanisms that lead to the occurrence of single events in ...

Dislocation‐Mediated Thermoelectric Performance and Mechanical Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations can scatter phonons to reduce thermal conductivity, thereby enhance thermoelectric performance. However, dislocations also impact mechanical properties, leading to increased brittleness and altered plasticity. It is essential to clarify the complex relationship between dislocations, thermal transport, and mechanical stability to achieve a ...

QCD Physics Lessons of Z0 Decay [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This talk contains a subjective selection of interesting results on Z$^0$ decays, presented by the LEP and SLC groups. The emphasis is on soft and semihard QCD physics. Results are put in a theoretical context, and the limits of our current understanding

Powder Metallurgy Preparation of Metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge Alloys for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge alloys using powder metallurgy for biomedical implants. The Ti–10Cr–2Ge alloy exhibits superior mechanical performance with high yield strength (>1100 MPa), low Young's modulus (<85 GPa), and excellent strain hardening behavior.

Underlying-event studies with strange hadrons in pp collisions at $$\sqrt{s} = 13$$ s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Properties of the underlying-event in pp interactions are investigated primarily via the strange hadrons $$K_{S}^{0}$$ K S 0 , $$\Lambda $$ Λ and $$\bar{\Lambda }$$ Λ ¯ , as reconstructed using the ATLAS detector at the LHC in minimum-bias pp collision ...

Unveiling CP property of top-Higgs coupling with graph neural networks at the LHC

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
The top-Higgs coupling plays an important role in particle physics and cosmology. The precision measurements of this coupling can provide an insight to new physics beyond the Standard Model. In this paper, we propose to use Message Passing Neural Network
