ABSTRACT This study investigated the antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and insecticidal properties of wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens L.) essential oil (GPEO). The EO was chemically characterized by GC–MS, confirming methyl salicylate as the predominant compound (99.3%).

Increasing Respiration Weakens the Carbon Sink Over Two Decades in a Temperate Deciduous Forest

Using a 20‐year eddy covariance record from a temperate deciduous forest, we show that net carbon uptake declined over two decades. Both the trend and interannual variability in net carbon exchange were respiration driven, with warming winters and increasing late‐summer diffuse light driving the trend in respiration.

Range‐wide sampling reveals cryptic lineages but largely conserved mycorrhizal associations in the Japanese fairy lantern Thismia kobensis

Clonal Expansion Accounts for Most Post‐Disturbance Proliferation of a Dominant Temperate Liana, Wisteria floribunda, Across a Fragmented Forest Landscape

Across all sampled ramets in a fragmented forest landscape, 83% were clonal, indicating that clonal expansion accounted for most of the present population structure of Wisteria floribunda. Compared with a continuous old‐growth forest, the fragmented forest showed substantially greater clonal dominance and spatial coverage by genets.

Consistent Buzz‐Pollination Posture Suggests Division of Labour Between Dimorphic Stamens in Bredia hirsuta (Melastomataceae) on Okinawa‐Jima Island, Japan

Bredia hirsuta, a small pollen flower, is buzz‐pollinated by Amegilla dulcifera in a posture separating ventral gripping from dorsal stigma contact. The bee grips short‐stamen ventrally, while the stigma contacts the dorsal abdomen near long‐stamen anther tips.
