Elucidating the etiology of idiopathic spontaneous intraperitoneal hemorrhage

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 70, Issue 6, Page 2565-2571, November 2025.
Abstract Free blood within the abdominal cavity (hemoperitoneum) presents a significant diagnostic and interpretive challenge. A Cross‐Sectional Virological and Sero‐Epidemiological Study of Exposures to Avian Influenza A(H5N1) and A(H9N2) Viruses in Live Bird Market Workers in Dhaka, Bangladesh

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 19, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Avian influenza A viruses (AIVs) are endemic among poultry in Bangladesh sold at live bird markets (LBMs). We assessed virologic and serologic evidence of exposure to AIVs among LBM workers. Methods A cross‐sectional study recruited 702 randomly sampled workers from 42 LBMs in Dhaka, Bangladesh, during 2017.

Joint function in marmosets and tamarins: Insights from computational modeling of hip extensor muscles

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 247, Issue 5, Page 1028-1037, November 2025.
This pilot study uses computational modeling to analyze five hip extensor muscles in four Callitrichidae species, aiming to identify adaptations to different leaping behaviors. Muscle topology was reconstructed from microCT scans to model instantaneous muscle moment arms and muscle strains during hip extension.

Portal Venous Drainage Modulates Inflammatory and Apoptotic Responses in a Swine Model of Living Donor Intestinal Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 7, November 2025.
Portal venous drainage in a swine model of living‐donor intestinal transplantation promoted a more balanced immunometabolic profile, with early apoptotic modulation and increased IL‐1α expression, suggesting improved mucosal adaptation compared with systemic drainage.

Nematode Infections in Commercially Important Squid Species: Distribution Patterns and Food Safety Issues

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 72, Issue 7, Page 612-619, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Cephalopods represent a valuable fishery resource worldwide and play a crucial role in the marine food chain both as predators and prey but also as paratenic hosts for the transmission of Ascaridoids, including zoonotic nematodes of the Anisakidae family.
