Vibratory Evoked Potentials

open access: yes, 2015
Numerous pathologies in medicine are characterized with deficit related to deep sense. Diagnostic methods currently used for testing features of deep sense in individuals are ex-tremely subjective and depend on patients’ co-operability, which is not always possible, especially with patients in coma, patients who are not able to communicate or small ...

The value of brainstem evoked potential in clinical decision of a patient with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy O valor do potencial evocado auditivo em decisão clínica em paciente com síndrome hipóxico-isquêmica

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2007
Establishing a prognosis for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy during the neonatal period is extremely difficult, as the neuroplasticity of the developing brain makes it almost impossible to measure the affected area.

The Somatosensory Evoked Potential [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Neurological Sciences / Journal Canadien des Sciences Neurologiques, 1982
Three decades have elapsed since Dawson (1947) recorded the first somatosensory evoked potential (SEP). Simple superimposition of individual responses was possible because the patient had progressive myoclonic epilepsy. In this disease the SEP amplitude is much enhanced (Shibasaki et al, 1978; Kelly et al, 1981).

Cortical responses elicited by luminance and compound stimuli modulated by pseudo-random sequences: comparison between normal trichromats and congenital red-green color blinds

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Pattern-reversal visual evoked cortical potential (VECP) shows positivity for luminance and chromatic equiluminant stimuli while pattern-onset VECP shows positivity for luminance pattern-onset and negativity for chromatic pattern-onset.

Acid-Sensing Ion Channels Activated by Evoked Released Protons Modulate Synaptic Transmission at the Mouse Calyx of Held Synapse [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) regulate synaptic activities and play important roles in neurodegenerative diseases. We found that these channels can be activated in neurons of the medial nucleus of the trapezoid body (MNTB) of the auditory system in ...

Vestibular evoked myogenic potential

open access: yesInternational Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2012
Introduction: The Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) is a promising test for the evaluation of the cholic descending vestibular system. This reflex depends of the integrity from the saccular macula, from the inferior vestibular nerve, the ...

Facilitatory actions of guanidine on synaptic transmission in mammalian brain slices [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Guanidine administration may be beneficial in the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and related diseases; however, the actions of guanidine on the mammalian central nervous system have not been investigated.
