A Comprehensive Review on Methodologies Employed for Visual Evoked Potentials

open access: yesScientifica, 2016
Visual information is fundamental to how we appreciate our environment and interact with others. The visual evoked potential (VEP) is among those evoked potentials that are the bioelectric signals generated in the striate and extrastriate cortex when the

A Comparison Study of Canonical Correlation Analysis Based Methods for Detecting Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Canonical correlation analysis (CCA) has been widely used in the detection of the steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEPs) in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs).

The Fetal Visual Evoked Potential [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1986
Five singleton fetal lambs were surgically instrumented at 110-121 days gestation (term gestation = 145 days) for measurement of visual evoked potentials (VEP) in utero. Light flashes were generated by a small incandescent bulb secured under the right fetal eyelids and the visual responses were recorded through stainless steel electrodes implanted in ...

Steady-state visual evoked potentials as a research tool in social affective neuroscience.

open access: yesPsychophysiology, 2016
Like many other primates, humans place a high premium on social information transmission and processing. One important aspect of this information concerns the emotional state of other individuals, conveyed by distinct visual cues such as facial ...

Short‐term monocular deprivation alters early components of visual evoked potentials

open access: yesJournal of Physiology, 2015
Short‐term monocular deprivation in adult humans produces a perceptual boost of the deprived eye reflecting homeostatic plasticity. Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) to transient stimuli change after 150 min of monocular deprivation in adult humans.

Suppression of EEG visual-evoked potentials in rats through neuromodulatory focused ultrasound

open access: yesNeuroReport, 2015
We investigated the use of pulsed low-intensity focused ultrasound (FUS) to suppress the visual neural response induced by light stimulation in rodents. FUS was administered transcranially to the rat visual cortex using different acoustic intensities and

A Grating Based High-Frequency Motion Stimulus Paradigm for Steady-State Motion Visual Evoked Potentials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Objective: This paper proposes a novel type of stimulus in the shape of sinusoidal gratings displayed with an imperceptibly high-frequency motion. The stimulus has been designed for use in BCI (Brain Computer Interface) applications that employ visually evoked potentials (VEPs) in an effort to mitigate discomfort associated with VEPs.

Evoking Places from Spaces. The application of multimodal narrative techniques in the creation of "U Modified" [PDF]

open access: yes15th Sound and Music Computing Conference (SMC2018), 2020
Multimodal diegetic narrative tools, as applied in multimedia arts practices, possess the ability to cross the spaces that exist between the physical world and the imaginary. Within this paper we present the findings of a multidiscipline practice based research project that explored the potential of an audiovisual art performance to purposefully ...

Visual evoked potentials in subgroups of migraine with aura patients

open access: yesThe Journal of Headache and Pain, 2015
BackgroundPatients suffering from migraine with aura can have either pure visual auras or complex auras with sensory disturbances and dysphasia, or both. Few studies have searched for possible pathophysiological differences between these two subgroups of

Visual evoked potentials in neurosyphilis. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, 1983
The visual evoked potential (VEP) to pattern reversal was recorded in 79 patients with neurosyphilis. Sixteen patients (20%) had abnormal VEP latencies with a predominance of pathological VEP values in the group of tabes dorsalis (50%) as compared to general paresis (18%) or meningovascular forms (13%).
