Fatigue life analysis and prediction of planetary gear bearings in electromechanical composite transmission systems

open access: yesJixie qiangdu
To address the problems of unclear internal load evolution law of the electromechanical composite transmission system for high-speed tracked vehicles and the lack of fatigue life prediction method for planetary gear bearings, a dynamic model of planetary

Coupled Planetary Interior and Tidal Evolution

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a new planetary structure/thermal evolution model, designed for use in problems that couple orbital dynamics with planetary structure. We first benchmark our structural/thermal evolution calculations against the MESA stellar evolution code ...

Proto planetary disc evolution

open access: yes, 2022
Proto-planetary discs provide the gaseous and solid building blocks to assemble planets. Therefore, only if we understand proto-planetary discs can we build a successful planet formation theory. In the last few years new instruments, especially the sub-mm interferometer ALMA, have allowed us to conduct entire surveys of proto-planetary disc populations,

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

Impacts of Atmospheric Carbon Species and Stellar Type on Climates of Terrestrial Planets

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
The climates of terrestrial planets are largely determined by the composition of their atmospheres and the spectral types of their host stars. Previous studies suggest that a wide range of carbon species abundances (CO _2 , CO, and CH _4 ) can result ...

Orbital dynamics of high area-to-mass ratio spacecraft under the influence of J2 and solar radiation pressure

open access: yes, 2011
This paper investigates the effect of planetary oblateness and solar radiation pressure on the orbit of high area-to-mass spacecraft. A planar Hamiltonian model shows the existence of equilibrium orbits with the orbit apogee pointing towards or away from

FiN‐Kiri: Fabric‐Based Inflatable Kirigami Actuator for Multimodal Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study introduces a type of inflatable fabric‐based kirigami actuator capable of performing bending motion. The actuator is utilized as soft grippers, a crawling robot and a swimming robot. The crawling robot demonstrated extraordinary motion capabilities, such as moving forward, turning and navigating a narrow tunnel.
