Fossil-calibrated molecular phylogeny of atlantid heteropods (Gastropoda, Pterotracheoidea)
Background The aragonite shelled, planktonic gastropod family Atlantidae (shelled heteropods) is likely to be one of the first groups to be impacted by imminent ocean changes, including ocean warming and ocean acidification. With a fossil record spanning

Electroweak Evolution Equations
Enlarging a previous analysis, where only fermions and transverse gauge bosons were taken into account, we write down infrared-collinear evolution equations for the Standard Model of electroweak interactions computing the full set of splitting functions.

Weak convergence of Markovian random evolution in a multidimensional space [PDF]
We study Markovian symmetry and non-symmetry random evolutions in $\mathbf{R}^n$. Weak convergence of Markovian symmetry random evolution to Wiener process and of Markovian non-symmetry random evolution to a diffusion process with drift is proved using problems of singular perturbation for the generators of evolutions.

The Evolution of Holmes, Holmes and Evolution [PDF]
The occasion of these remarks is the one-hundredth anniversary of the publication of Holmes' The Common Law, but it is not so much his book as it is his later career that explains why we observe the occasion. The Common Law is a widely known book but one more widely known than read, while perhaps it is more often read than understood.

Background Snakes exhibit a broad variety of adaptive colors and color patterns, generated by the spatial arrangement of chromatophores, but little is known of the mechanisms responsible for these spectacular traits.

A class of nilpotent evolution algebras [PDF]
Recently, by A. Elduque and A. Labra a new technique and a type of an evolution algebra are introduced. Several nilpotent evolution algebras defined in terms of bilinear forms and symmetric endomorphisms are constructed. The technique then used for the classification of the nilpotent evolution algebras up to dimension five.

Gamma-Ray Burst Spectral Evolution Through Crosscorrelations of Discriminator Light Curves [PDF]
Gamma-ray burst spectra usually show hard-to-soft evolution within intensity spikes and from spike to spike. The techniques used to study spectral evolution often lack sufficient temporal resolution to determine the nature of this evolution. By comparing the auto- and crosscorrelations between the time histories of the BATSE Large Area Detector ...

Spring is here! Can\u27t you hear the rumble of skates as the children zip by the house in their youthful glee? Can\u27t you hear the mingled chatter of the spring birds?

Background Increasing temperatures are predicted to strongly impact host-parasite interactions, but empirical tests are rare. Host species that are naturally exposed to a broad temperature spectrum offer the possibility to investigate the effects of ...
