Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Evolutionary patterns of agent organizations

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics - Part A: Systems and Humans, 2002
Problems approached by multi-agent systems are typically complex. It is usually difficult to know at system design stage how many agents need to be in the system, what each agent's role is, and how the agents should interact to get optimal performance out of the group.

Genealogical patterns in evolutionary algorithms

Proceedings of the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference Companion, 2019
Event Takeover Values (ETV) measure the impact of each individual in the population dynamics of evolutionary algorithms (EA). Previous studies argue that ETV distribution of panmictic EAs fit power laws with exponent between 2.2 and 2.5 and that this property is insensitive to fitness landscapes and design choices of the EAs.
