Model of preemptive embedded systems for optimizing real-time performance

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2005
By analyzing preemptions in embedded real-time systems adopting RM scheduling policy, created a preemption model of periodic real-time tasks. This model described the relationship between overheads incurred by preemptions and the properties of real-time ...

Structure-Based Evolutionary Programming Design of Broadband Wire Antennas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2013
A design technique for wire antennas, based on the Structure-Based Evolutionary Programming, is used to design a broadband antenna with an end-fire radiation pattern and a very simple geometry, operating in the 3–16 GHz frequency band, namely, from the S

Estimation Models Generation using Linear Genetic Programming

open access: yesCLEI Electronic Journal, 2009
The use of decision rules and estimation techniques is increasingly common for decision mak- ing. In recent years studies were conducted which applies Genetic Programming (GP) to obtain rules to make predictions.

Neurogenetic Programming Framework for Explainable Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Automatic programming, the task of generating computer programs compliant with a specification without a human developer, is usually tackled either via genetic programming methods based on mutation and recombination of programs, or via neural language models.

Combination of Evolutionary Algorithms with Experimental Design, Traditional Optimization and Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Evolutionary algorithms alone cannot solve optimization problems very efficiently since there are many random (not very rational) decisions in these algorithms.

Use of the q-Gaussian mutation in evolutionary algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Copyright @ Springer-Verlag 2010.This paper proposes the use of the q-Gaussian mutation with self-adaptation of the shape of the mutation distribution in evolutionary algorithms.

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae amino acid transporter Lyp1 has a broad substrate spectrum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yeast Amino acid Transporter family members mediate the import of amino acids, ranging from substrate specialists to generalists. Here, we show that the specialist transporter, Lyp1, has a broader substrate spectrum than previously described, with affinity constants spanning from micromolar to millimolar.

Ant colony optimisation and local search for bin-packing and cutting stock problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The Bin Packing Problem and the Cutting Stock Problem are two related classes of NP-hard combinatorial optimization problems. Exact solution methods can only be used for very small instances, so for real-world problems, we have to rely on heuristic ...

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Application of multiobjective genetic programming to the design of robot failure recognition systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present an evolutionary approach using multiobjective genetic programming (MOGP) to derive optimal feature extraction preprocessing stages for robot failure detection.
