Constraint-Handling Techniques used with Evolutionary Algorithms
Proceedings of the Companion Publication of the 2015 Annual Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, 2007Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs), when used for global optimization, can be seen as unconstrained optimization techniques. Therefore, they require an additional mechanism to incorporate constraints of any kind (i.e., inequality, equality, linear, nonlinear) into their fitness function.

Evolutionary techniques for fault tolerance
UKACC International Conference on Control. Control '96, 1996Artificial evolution can integrate fault tolerance considerations into the automatic design process, producing inherently fault-tolerant designs without explicit redundant parts. Population dynamics can give rise to some level of fault tolerance `for free'. Requirements for fault tolerance can also be incorporated into the fitness function.

Gamification techniques in collaborative interactive evolutionary computation
Proceedings of the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference Companion, 2017The necessary intervention of humans in interactive evolutionary computational systems has inherent drawbacks arising from the very nature of the algorithms, namely the human fatigue caused by the interaction and the boredom arising when users evaluate a large number of artifacts.

Synthesis of Mechanisms with Evolutionary Techniques
2008The paper deals with optimal synthesis solution methods to planar mechanisms. Several searching procedures are defined in this work, which apply algorithms based on evolutionary techniques. These algorithms are used to solve different synthesis problems of planar mechanisms.

Modified collocation techniques for evolutionary problems
2016We present some modified collocation based numerical methods for the numerical integration of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) and Volterra Integral Equations (VIEs). The treatise is framed into the existing literature on classical collocation methods and shows how this idea can evolve into a multistep setting, also in case of basis of functions ...

Evolutionary programming techniques for testing students' code
Proceedings of the Australasian conference on Computing education, 2000Tools for analysing student code offer great potential for enhancing student learning through informing both students and staff. One such tool, the datlab system, has been successfully employed in second year data structures courses and provides facilities for testing students' laboratory work, providing feedback to students, and assigning marks for ...

Evolutionary Techniques for Speech Enhancement
2011Genetic Algorithms have become increasingly appreciated as an easy-to-use general method for a wide range of optimization problems. Their principle consists of maintaining and manipulating a population of solutions and implementing a ‘survival of the fittest’ strategy in their search for better solutions. In this chapter, GAs are combined with a signal
