Dynamic Load Analysis of an eVTOL Aircraft Propulsion System

Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 79th Annual Forum, 2023
Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft are considered as a solution to support urban transportation, including cargo delivery (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAVs) and passenger travel (Urban Air Mobility, UAM). Over the last few years many different concepts have been derived and tested to varying levels of maturity.

Motor and Drive Design for eVTOL Aircraft

Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 80th Annual Forum
The design of a powertrain for an eVTOL is a complex, multidisciplinary challenge whose solution is best approached as a constrained optimization problem. We use a motor and drive optimization tool based on both first principles and empirical models to examine the design space for a medium-sized eVTOL aicraft.

Studies on Off-Nominal Rotor Aerodynamics for eVTOL Aircraft

2023
As electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft become increasingly common, improved understanding of rotor aerodynamics in off-nominal conditions becomes ever more important. A better fundamental understanding of these effects can help inform vehicle design, leading to lower power consumption and improved performance.
