Exact Estimates for a Rate Ratio

Epidemiology, 1996
The incidence rate ratio is a basic measure of association in epidemiology. We present a simple and efficient method for computing exact confidence limits for the common rate ratio in a series of 2 x 2 tables with person-time denominators. The method uses a polynomial multiplication (convolution) algorithm previously described for an odds ratio.

Exact ML Estimation of Spectroscopic Parameters

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2000
In a paper on spectroscopic imaging published in this journal Spielman et al. (J. Magn. Reson. 79, 66-77 (1988)) made the important point that a priori information about the compounds present can and should be incorporated into the estimation of spectroscopic signal parameters.

Exact computations for the coherence estimate

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 2007
The recent paper by Miranda de Sa et al. [10] developed methods for computing the sampling distribution of the coherence estimate between two signals. However, the methods were based on some approximations because it was claimed that exact calculations required extensive computations. In this technical note, we provide analytical expressions and 1-line

Exact Estimates for Potentials

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1988
In this note the author characterizes the potential functions, V(x)\(\geq 0\), defined on \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), satisfying quadratic estimates: \((Vu,u)\leq C_{\lambda}(\| \nabla u\|^ 2+\lambda^ 2\| u\|^ 2),\) for u in \(C_ 0({\mathbb{R}}^ n)\). He gives the value of the best constant: \(C_{\lambda}=C_{\lambda}(V)\) and applies this to the spectral ...
