A Cu‐mediated Ni(OH)2 catalyst with orthogonal activity by precise valence engineering simultaneously accelerates rate‐determining aldehyde C─H activation in HMF oxidation and impedes O─H deprotonation in competing OER. This multi‐functional synergistic catalysis enables FDCA production at industrial‐level current densities without sacrificing FEFDCA ...

Biological EXAFS at room temperature
Biological EXAFS experiments are usually carried out on frozen samples in order to minimize radiation damage. This causes difficulties when studies at different pH are made, since the pH cannot be measured directly for the frozen sample. We have carried out EXAFS studies of Human Carbonic Anhydrase, a zinc metalloenzyme, at room temperature using a ...

Hydrothermal Embedding of Pd Single Atoms Into SnO2 for Efficient CO Oxidation
By applying hydrothermal regulation to SnO2‐supported PdO, we achieve atomic dispersion of Pd into the SnO2 lattice, which activates the lattice oxygen neighboring Pd atoms to generate oxygen vacancies and facilitates subsequent O2 activation, thereby promoting CO oxidation to proceed via a low‐energy‐barrier MvK pathway while avoiding CO poisoning ...

Many-electron effects in EXAFS
Extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy is an experimental technique useful in the study of non-crystalline materials. EXAFS is analysed by comparing experimental to theoretical spectra.

An atomically dispersed Co–N4 single‐atom catalyst rapidly activates peroxymonosulfate to remove the antibiotic sulfamethoxazole from water. Common ions have little impact, but chloride dramatically speeds degradation by promoting a high‐valent Co(IV) = O oxidant via in situ HOCl–catalyst electron transfer.

Purposive doping of low electronegative Ba2+ (0.89) at La3+ (1.1) site in LaFe0.7Ni0.3O3‐δ induces the formation of a tri‐phase composite, which shortens Fe─O bond and lowers activation energy, thereby significantly improves electrical conductivity and catalytic activity, and finally offers a record‐high peak power density in La0.5Ba0.5Fe0.7Ni0.3O3‐δ ...
