The small-atom approximation in EXAFS and surface EXAFS
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1988A simplification of the exact curved-wave theory of extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) is presented. This simplified theory is obtained from an approximation to the wavefunction which is based on the physics of the scattering process, and it is found to be in good agreement with the exact theory almost down to the absorption edge.
