A Control Architecture for Robotic Excavation in Construction

Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 2003
Abstract:  This article presents a hybrid control architecture developed for robotic excavation. The lower‐level controllers are designed using a combination of sliding mode control and fuzzy logic control. Control strategies at the higher level involve task decomposition in association with statecharts, and task execution and verification.

Excavating the Hidden Parallelism Inside DRAM Architectures With Buffered Compares

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2017
We propose an approach called buffered compares , a less-invasive processing-in-memory solution that can be used with existing processor memory interfaces such as DDR3/4 with minimal changes. The approach is based on the observation that multibank architecture, a key feature of modern main memory DRAM devices, can be used to provide huge internal ...

Deep Dramaturgy: Excavating the Architecture of the Site-Specific Performance

Canadian Theatre Review, 2004
Four-hundred-and-fifty people have gathered in a sculpture court. Small folding stools on the perimeter of the spacefill quickly. I am whispering requests to the artistic staff and catching the cast’s eyes to let them know we are ready. H and Shannon are tied together with rope, back-to-back on a six-foot high platform.

The other architecture: From natural caves to excavated housing

2015
Excavated towns are an attractive example of underground urbanism that managed to solve, in a very interesting way, thermal problems thanks to natural ground inertia or transition spaces. The aim of this paper is to show the typological evolution of excavated dwellings worldwide, as an architectural proposal and urban solution. The proposed methodology

Excavations at Sparta, 1924–1928: I.—The Theatre: Architectural Remains

The Annual of the British School at Athens, 1930
The two following articles dealing with the finds from the excavations of 1924–28 at Sparta bring nearly to a conclusion the publication of the results of that undertaking. The first (pp. 151–240) comprises a description of the architectural remains from the Theatre, including the architectural inscriptions and the stamped bricks and tiles. The second (
