Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Using Exception Handling to Build Opaque Predicates in Intermediate Code Obfuscation Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2008
Microsoft's .NET Framework, and JAVA platforms, are based in a just-in-time compilation philosophy. Software developed using these technologies is executed in a hardware independent framework, which provides a full object-oriented environment, and in ...

Reasoning and Improving on Software Resilience against Unanticipated Exceptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In software, there are the errors anticipated at specification and design time, those encountered at development and testing time, and those that happen in production mode yet never anticipated.

A State-Machine Model for Reliability Eliciting over Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Advances in communications and embedded systems have led to the proliferation of wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs) in a wide variety of application domains. One important key of many such WSAN applications is the needed to meet non-functional

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

The qnu and qnuK calculi, name capture and control (Extended Abstract) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We introduce a pithy calculus obtained by splitting the lambda binder of the lambda-calculus into two constructions : a pure binder nu, à la pi-calculus, and a combinator for beta-reduction. This splitting allows a powerful -- yet controlled -- rebinding

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

EDTA improves stability of whole blood C-peptide and insulin to over 24 hours at room temperature.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
IntroductionC-peptide and insulin measurements in blood provide useful information regarding endogenous insulin secretion. Conflicting evidence on sample stability and handling procedures continue to limit the widespread clinical use of these tests.
