Calculating cv based on non-uniform initial excess pore pressure
The coefficient of consolidation (c v ) is often determined by comparing the characteristics of the experimental and theoretical consolidation using empirical curve-fitting procedures which are based on the theoretical U−T curve generated by a layer ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Behavior of Nonplastic Silty Soils under Cyclic Loading
The engineering behavior of nonplastic silts is more difficult to characterize than is the behavior of clay or sand. Especially, behavior of silty soils is important in view of the seismicity of several regions of alluvial deposits in the world, such as ...

The Study of Liquefaction Time Stages due to a Short Duration Shaking
During the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake, liquefactions were massively found in Opak River, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Learning from those events, an experimental study of liquefaction using shaking table was performed, especially to investigate the effect of ...

Constitutive Model of Lateral Unloading Creep of Soft Soil under Excess Pore Water Pressure
Presented in this paper is a study on the lateral unloading creep tests under different excess pore water pressures. The marine sedimentary soft soil in Shenzhen, China, was selected in this study.

Excess pore pressure and slope failures resulting from gas-hydrates dissociation and dissolution
Parameters affecting gas hydrate formation include temperature, pore pressure, gas chemistry, and pore-water salinity. Any change in the equilibrium of these parameters may result in dissociation (gas-hydrate turns into free gas/water mixture) and/or ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Dilatational-wave-induced pore-water pressure in soil
This paper examines peak and residual pore-water pressures in water-saturated soil induced by a dilatational stress wave. Our new laboratory testing device applies submillisecond, high pressure dilatational stress-wave loadings to water-saturated soil ...
