What do distortion risk measures tell us on excess of loss reinsurance with reinstatements ? [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we focused our attention to the study of an excess of loss reinsurance with reinstatements, a problem previously studied by Sundt [5] and, more recently, by Mata [4] and HÄurlimann [3].

Identifying High‐Risk Cardiac Arrest Neighborhoods Using Social Vulnerability Index and Geospatial Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Identifying high‐risk locations for out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is essential for targeted community interventions. We aimed to use the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) and geospatial mapping of OHCA data to locate high‐risk ...

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Discounting and Relative Consumption [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyzes optimal social discount rates where people derive utility from relative consumption. We identify and compare three separate discount rates -- the social rate (taking positional externalities into account), the private rate, and the ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Risk of death from hematological malignancies in the South Urals Population Exposed to Radiation cohort

open access: yesРадиационная гигиена
The results of studies of long-term effects of population exposure in the South Urals in the 1950s were based for a long time on studies of the effects of exposure in the Techa River cohort and later in the East Urals Radioactive Trace cohort.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.
