Among known aircraft metal materials, Ni–Al is identified as an ordering intermetallic alloy with several attractive properties including low density (≈ 6 g/cm3), high melting point (≈ 1911 K), excellent oxidation resistance (up to 1573 K), and good ...

We study, in the absence of a magnetic field, the stabilization of skyrmions in a single-layered ferromagnet in the presence of next-nearest-neighbor exchange interactions including both the ferromagnetic exchange interaction and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya ...

Spin-orbit mediated anisotropic spin interaction in interacting electron systems
We investigate interactions between spins of strongly correlated electrons subject to the spin-orbit interaction. Our main finding is that of a novel, spin-orbit mediated anisotropic spin-spin coupling of the van der Waals type.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Topological superconductivity facilitated by exchange interaction on the surface of FeTe0.5Se0.5
FeTe _1− _x Se _x is a family of iron-based superconductors with a well-known critical temperature ( T _c ) of 14.5 K for x = 0.45. Also well-established is the presence of topological surface states of FeTe _0.55 Se _0.45 in which topological ...

Exchange Effects in the Invar Hardening: $Fe_{0.65}Ni_{0.35}$ as a test case
An increase of the critical resolved shear stress of Invar alloys (Invar hardening) with a lowering temperature is explained. The effect is caused by a growth of the exchange interaction between dangling $d$-electron states of dislocation cores and ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

A Crystallographic Study of a Novel Tetrazolyl-Substituted Nitronyl Nitroxide Radical
Spin-labelled compounds are widely used in chemistry, physics, biology, and material sciences, but the directed synthesis of some functionalized organic radicals is still a challenge.
