Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

The Value of Deregulating Over-The-Counter Options [PDF]
Hedgers located far from organized commodity exchanges suffer the mismatch between their local prices and exchange prices. Futures and options traded on the exchange may still be valuable to distant hedgers but only to the extent that basis risk is small.

Exchange options with stochastic volatility
In a recent paper by Antonelli and Scarlatti, the problem of pricing plain vanilla options under quite general stochastic dynamics for the volatility of the underlying asset was approached in a novel way. Namely, they developed the option price in a power series of the correlation coefficient between the asset price and the volatility processes around ...

Choice of exchange rate regimes for African countries: Fixed or Flexible Exchange rate regimes? [PDF]
The choice of an appropriate exchange rate regime has been a subject of ongoing debate in international economics. The majority of African countries are small open economies and thus where the choice of the exchange rate regime is an important policy ...

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Forecasting volatility and option pricing for exchange-rate dynamics: a comparison of models [PDF]
This paper explores the applicability of static and dynamic models to capture the stylized facts of exchange-rate dynamics. The static models (mixture of distributions, compound Poisson process, generalized Student distribution) are compatible with ...
