Evaluation of a Rat Cardiopulmonary Bypass Model Using an Extraluminal Flow Oxygenator

A rat cardiopulmonary bypass model was constructed incorporating the developed extraluminal flow oxygenator and compared with a commercial intraluminal flow oxygenator. Both oxygenators demonstrated comparable gas exchange performance and inflammatory responses; however, the one developed in this study better preserved PLT counts.

Identification of Coagulation Phenotypes Using Viscoelastic and Conventional Assays During Veno‐Venous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: A Hierarchical Clustering Analysis

Hierarchical clustering of viscoelastic and conventional coagulation parameters identified three distinct phenotypes in V‐V ECMO patients, revealing substantial APTT–CK‐R discordance and highlighting the value of TEG‐derived markers for detecting coagulopathy not captured by standard monitoring.

A genetic risk score based on BCL11A and HBS1L‐MYB variants predicts clinical severity in Brazilian sickle cell anaemia patients

Summary Individuals with sickle cell anaemia (SCA) exhibit significant clinical heterogeneity influenced by several factors, especially fetal haemoglobin (HbF) levels. Variations in adult HbF levels are partly explained by the co‐inheritance of genetic variants that regulate globin expression.
